Ask Dr. John #40

Originally Aired, MAY 29, 2013

Dr. John Whitcomb joins Brannon for another installment of “Ask Dr. John.” Question: Ask Dr. John. What attributes, if any, did Jesus empty Himself of when he came to earth to die for us? What Scripture verses support this? Question: What did Mary and Martha mean when they said, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died” (John 11:21, 32, NKJV)? Question: Why did Jesus tell those at the raising of Lazarus, “Take away the stone” (John 11:39, NKJV)? Question: Can you please explain why Mathew, Luke and John write that Jesus told Peter he would deny Jesus three times before the cock would crow while Mark says it would occur before the cock crows twice? Is it once or twice? Question: Does 2 Tim. 3:16 speak only about the Old Testament? Question: Is there another passage beside 2 Tim. 3:16 that similarly confirms the authority of Scripture? Question: What is your opinion on getting vaccines made using aborted fetal cells lines? It has been suggested by my doctor that I get the shingles vaccine. I checked and it is one that is made using aborted cells. How can I in conscience get this vaccine? What are parents to do when their children are required to be vaccinated? Question: I have a family member who is a Christian but she is also addicted to smoking. She does not believe that this is a sin. I tried to explain that anything we are in bondage to is a sin. Is smoking a sin? Are there any Scriptures that would answer this question? Question: What advice would you give to a young man considering going into the ministry? Question: I was having a conversation with my son this past week, trying to lead him to the Lord, and he brought up Deut. 22:11 and said he could not worship a God who made such apparently silly rules. Can you provide insight into this verse so I can address it with my son?
