Ask Dr. John #20

Originally Aired: NOVEMBER 19, 2013

Dr. John Whitcomb joins us for another installment of Ask Dr. John. Question: Does the first commandment teach that there are other gods beside the true God (cf. Ex. 20:3)? Question: Was Jesus’ victory over temptation accomplished in order to qualify Him to save us from our sin, or was it merely to demonstrate that He was already qualified? Question: Should churches today cast lots to pick their leaders (cf. Acts 1:26)? Would this be more Biblical than voting for them? Question: I have searched the Scriptures and cannot find support for the idea that the seventh-day Sabbath was changed to Sunday. Instead, what I find is that the Church of Rome is responsible for this change, which would fit with Dan. 7:25. Am I correct on this? Question: Does Rev. 4:1 teach a pre-tribulation rapture? Question: I always hear that the 144,000 (Rev. 7) are evangelists, but what verse says that they will be evangelizing? Question: Who will be at the wedding supper of the Lamb? Will it be just New Testament saints or will it include the Old Testament saints as well? Question: Why is there is so much blatant immodesty today, not only in the world, but in the church as well. Shouldn’t Christians look different from the rest of the world? Is it being too legalistic to expect this? Why isn’t this addressed from the pulpit? Question: Why are so many churches abandoning the tradition of expository Bible teaching today? Question: What are some of the best ways to make Thanksgiving Biblically meaningful? Topic: We take your calls.
