When Evil Becomes Good

I often have the opportunity to sit down with my father and have great conversations about anything and everything. This is, of course, part of our tight relationship as father and son and equally as best friends. But something out of the ordinary occurred just a few days ago as we sat in a local "mom and pops" bagel shop in order to have some lunch. My dad couldn't help but notice that I was intrigued and quiet for most of the meal. He didn't want to ask if anything was wrong until after we ate, being the prudent man is he. I soon came to the realization that I was probably being impolite, but something had caught my attention.
 
In this particular food joint they have large HD flat screens which surround the place and every single TV is tuned to a different news station. To my disappointment CNN, MSNBC and ABC is what gets displayed the majority of the time. The reason I use the word "disappointed" is because all of these outlets have dedicated themselves to propagandizing the American public with liberal and secular ideologies instead of sticking to reporting the news. Still, what was being exhibited on the biggest screen was the television show The View. I know what you're thinking and please understand that I don't ever watch The View. There's something about unapologetic feminism that disgusts me to my core. (More on that in a future post.) Still, there was a particular personality that had my eyes glued to the mounted 50 inch on the wall.
 
In an outlandish and typically freakish outfit which is designed to attract attention, Lady Gaga was being interviewed and surrounded by Joy, Whoopi, Barbara and Elizabeth. As is usual during these telecasts, when the interviewee espouses the same leftist worldview as the hosts, the questions were "softball" type inquiries designed to portray this otherwise vile woman as an artist and cultural icon. Subjects covered included the recent passing of legislation legalizing gay marriage in the state of New York. (Gaga is an outspoken advocate for the astutely titled gay rights movement.) No one opposed her viewpoints nor dared question her stance.
 
Someone might ask, "Why were you hanging on every word?" I wasn't. What had my consideration was the fact that Lady Gaga was being interviewed on an opinion show. By default this meant that the producers and creators of said show believe Gaga is an influence in the world and/or are bringing her to the set because she represents everything perverse that the Hollywood elite stand for. I know for a fact that both are realities. And this is just one of the evidences which showcases a broader reality about our culture. She's just a microcosm of the dire situation humanity currently finds itself in. Still, for the purposes of communicating the truth, we'll continue to use her as an example.
 
What continually amazes me is the constant endorsement that our generation gives lewd individuals like Gaga. This is a young lady who craftily promotes promiscuity, perversion, homosexuality, death and uses shock imagery and lyrics to attract the masses to her message and at the same time fill her bank account. And since everything she stands for is contrary to what is godly and pure, those who agree with her message and are able to promulgate it do so without flinching because they hate the Gospel and continually attempt to destroy it via different means. Lady Gaga is just one of the many sources that our generation employs to circulate this dispatch. And she is popular. She's received hundreds of millions of hits on her YouTube videos alone and countless adoring fans hang on her every word.
 
But, my bewilderment and indignation weren't solely caused because a celebrity like Gaga was on the screen. It occurred at the realization that what Isaiah stated has become a reality in our society. Good is being called evil and evil good. (Isaiah 5:20) Lawlessness is continually approved by our society when it purchases reprobate publications and literature, watches films and programs and listens to music that encourages godlessness. And it is these actions and passive attitude towards evil that excuses and justifies wickedness and approves of those who practice it. (Romans 1:18-32) These factors allow evil to go unchecked. Tack on the negation of sound biblical doctrine and of God Himself and you have a complete fallout.
 
What's the solution? A return to acceptance and divulgation of Scriptural truth and  living according to God's will for man. This will ensure that we and our offspring will live wholesome lives, free from the pain and filth that the secular system carries with it. (1st Timothy 6:11-16; Philippians 4:8-9) Simple solution, isn't it? God's answers always are.
