Hey Starbucks, Hold the Mush, Just Serve Java

I needed a lift this afternoon, so I stopped at a Starbucks today in northern Virginia. My medium-sized cup was decorated with drawn Christmas ornaments bearing the words "Wish," "Hope," "Bright," and "Peace." Very nice. But one large ornament had this message:
"We invite YOU to LISTEN to your DESIRES and to RENEW your HOPE to SEE the world not as it is but as it COULD be. Go ahead. WISH. It's what makes the holidays the HOLIDAYS."
Huh? Wishing? THAT's what makes this season special? My desires? My hope? It's all about … me?
No, that's not what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown. It's all about Him. Starbucks should warn folks that it's serving holiday mush along with its java.
Here's some real hope, and not just wishful thinking:

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. -Luke 2:10, 11

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."   - John 3:16

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13
Truth beats "wishes" any day. An early Merry Christmas to one and all.
