2021: A Dark Culmination and Time of Decision is Upon Us

Louis Budenz was born in 1891 and died in 1972. He was a labor activist who joined the Communist Party USA, became managing editor of the Party’s newspaper, Daily Worker, and then became a Soviet spy. In 1945 he renounced communism, testifying under oath about communist subversion and espionage. He wrote books in which he attempted to warn the American people about the dangers of communism. In 1965 Louis Budenz said, “The record of the past thirty years … cannot be depicted as a happy or encouraging one. Since recognition of the Bolshevik Revolution by the United States, the history of the period is dotted with American setbacks….” If Budenz were alive today, he would describe the last thirty years in similar terms.

Budenz listed the communist conquest of Eastern Europe and China as major setbacks in his 1965 lamentation. Today Budenz might list the loss to communism of mineral rich Congo, South Africa, the communist victory in the Angolan Civil War; the return of the Sandinista communists to power in Nicaragua, the fall of oil-rich Venezuela to communism; the fall of Nepal, the suppression of Hong Kong, crypto communist governments in Bolivia and throughout Latin America; a totalitarian beachhead in the federal bureaucracy of the United States Government, communist-inspired multiculturalism and political correctness in the nation’s schools and universities leading to national disunity and ideological fragmentation, the communist-made COVID-19 pandemic, the riots of last summer, and the stolen November election.

It is no wonder that some of us are worried. In 1965 Budenz wrote, “So far, the decision of dominant forces, somewhat blindly given, has been in favor of national suicide.” It must be admitted that our course continues along these same lines. Only now, we may be coming to the end of our journey of domestic transformation. The subversion of earlier decades now evolves toward a socialist revolution, perhaps finalized by a seizure of power through fraudulent communist-style elections – with Russia and China as the dominant world powers. Our national train is following the same track as 1965.  What Budenz wrote then, applies now: “A small group of loud-shouting … friends of the Communist conspiracy join hands with the Morgan-Rockefeller interests on Wall Street and much of the American business community….”

As the French like to say, “Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.” (The more things change, the more they stay the same.) Nothing in our trajectory has changed since 1965. Our course remains what it was. We seem to be stuck, unable to turn our ship of state away from a rocky shore.

How can a rich and powerful country come to such a tragic end? Ignorance, foolishness and treason come immediately to mind. Even now, most Americans are ignorant of the danger from China and Russia, foolish enough to think life will return to normal because of a vaccine. My own sources continue to report that the country we built into a military colossus, Red China, is contemplating a war with the United States. Reports from Russia are only slightly more encouraging; yet an authority no less knowledgeable than Peter Vincent Pry has hinted that an “apparent” cyberattack from Russia could be a precursor to a strike against U.S. strategic assets (if we take stock of Russia’s Vostok 18 conventional/nuclear war exercise).

With China prepping for war and Vladimir Putin winking from behind his generals, what is likely to happen in the new year? In all probability we will see an economic crisis resulting from COVID-19 overstretch, opening the way to a violent sequel. As Peter Pry noted, the recent cyber-attack on the U.S. Government is more than suggestive. From the look of things, our cyber systems have been compromised in a way that cannot be fixed easily. Our vaunted NSA has proven to be something of a scarecrow. How could it be otherwise, given our history of being infiltrated and subverted from within? So here we sit, vulnerable as never before. Will it be the banks? (I’ve heard that the Russians hacked at least one bank.) Will it be the markets? Will it be agriculture? Will it be our military?

It seems we are passing from a low-intensity war to something more intense. And why shouldn’t our enemies up their game? The Chinese communists have bought God-only-knows how many of our politicians. They’ve colonized key West Coast cities. They’ve stolen American military technology and now they are ready to deploy that technology in a war. They skunked us with a nasty virus. They are threatening Australia, India, Taiwan and Japan. But “President-Elect” Joe Biden says the Chinese communists are wonderful people.

In the meanwhile, a bizarre news report has appeared in the midst of our national nightmare, in the form of public statements from an Israeli general, a former space security chief. As Breitbart has reported, retired Gen. Haim Eshed says that extraterrestrials have been in contact with the U.S. and Israeli governments for years. As if reading from a cheap science fiction novel, he added that the “Galactic Federation” asked President Donald Trump to keep their existence secret.

Gen. Eshed’s “revelation” may serve as an indirect warning to China and Iran. After all, if America is aligned with a Galactic Federation, would the Chinese dare to attack? Surely the Chinese would not go against a country with extraterrestrial friends with “out-of-this-world” technology. “There’s an agreement between the U.S. government and the aliens,” Eshed told Israel’s Yediot Aharonot newspaper. “They signed a contract with us to do experiments here. They, too, are researching and trying to understand the whole fabric of the universe, and they want us as helpers. There’s an underground base in the depths of Mars, where their representatives are, and also our American astronauts.”

Eshed’s remarks resemble those of another retired military man, Col. Philip J. Corso, former Chief of the U.S. Army’s Foreign Technology Division, who alleged in 1997 that the U.S. military “seeded” alien technology from a flying saucer crash to the giants of American industry. Among the technologies allegedly seeded were integrated circuit chips, fiber optics and lasers. (Corso was dismissed by the media as crank.)

Eshed and Corso were military intelligence officers with backgrounds in psychological warfare. Some may believe their claims about extraterrestrials; and who knows, perhaps they are telling the truth. Yet there is no proof of this truth; and one must ask, after all these years, what strategic purpose this persistent rumor of an “alien liaison” might serve. This year, after all, the Pentagon released gun camera footage from U.S. Navy fighters chasing a UFO. The excited communications chatter of the pilots is unmistakable, and so is the astonishing maneuverability of these UFOs. But the question still remains: Was the Pentagon’s curious admission part of a psychological warfare operation?

As a primer on this subject, readers are directed to Jacques Vallee’s book, Revelations: Alien Contact and Human Deception. “The idea that we are about to encounter new enemies in outer space contains unfathomable power,” Vallee wrote. “And the human greed for power explains many miracles.” Vallee suggests that the French, American and Russian governments have faked UFO incidents in decades past; sometimes for intelligence reasons, sometimes for reasons more obscure. The acceleration of such rumors at a time of rising international tension and domestic unrest are suggestive. Whether or not aliens are real, these uncharacteristic military revelations may be a subtle indicator that we have entered a very dangerous period of international tension.

From another perspective, such rumors underscore how intellectually lost we are. People will now believe almost anything. The most insane conspiracy theories are advanced with apparent logic and great fervor. To see these many theories, to count their mistakes of fact and logic, is to make a thinking person grieve. Build a narrative, true or false, and people will come. The more sensational the better. The more it appeals to a wish-fulfillment fantasy, the more readily and vehemently it will be believed. To suspect something is true, and to study it for years, and to always remain a little doubtful, is a very hard thing to do. To know when something is proven, when it is true, is not as easy as most people assume. Human beings are not often good at thinking. Only the most obvious truths are accessible. Everything else is an argument in which the will to believe usually wins out.

The truth, I fear, is an orphan. Nobody really wants it; first, because it always comes with an implied responsibility; second, because its chances look very poor; and third, it rarely pays. In this Information Age, where garbage comes in and garbage goes out, we are literally surrounded by garbage narratives. The Great Game, it seems, is all about these narratives. The structures of culture, and the structures of politics, are built around symbols from which narratives are spun. The narratives of the left, which now predominate, are slowly disintegrating our social order; that is to say, they are eroding our morale, our social stability and our intellectual integrity. And this is a great boon to our enemies in Beijing in Moscow.

This is a bit abstract, but may be worth considering: Everything in reality is part of a system, or a series of interlocking systems. The various levels of reality are nested, one inside the other. Therefore, facts cannot be understood in isolation, as they appear (almost at random) in newspapers. Facts are snippets of reality – integrated parts of a larger whole. The meaning of a fact becomes clear only when we see the fact in its system context; that is, as part of a larger reality. Understanding is therefore hierarchical because some facts help us see the larger reality better than other facts. Some facts are more important for grasping the truth. This is because reality is not composed of a random series of unorganized items. Reality has logic, relation, and pattern to it. Only when we begin to understand logic, relation and pattern can we arrive at the door of truth.

Medieval scholars and ancient philosophers knew all this, on some level, centuries ago. We moderns seem to have lost all understanding in favor of specialization; that is, knowing more and more about less and less. We often miss the important facts, and we do not tie things together properly. This may be why our civilization is effectively defenseless against its enemies, foreign and domestic.

The revolution of the left, or the communists, or whatever you want to call them, is a disintegrative project. Its objective is to tear down the existing culture, to strip civilization of its defenses in order to destroy the existing “order.” They want to create a new order, and a new system, discarding the organic process of history in which a culture is formed around a symbol-system. As historians have shown, the several cultures of our civilization were originally formed around Christian symbols and ideals. The communists and their allies want to get rid of those symbols and ideals. They want to eradicate the notion that the universe originated in God’s mind. They agree with Karl Marx’s suggestion that “the ideal is nothing else than the material world reflected by the human mind and translated into forms of thought.”

At the beginning of Chapter Two in Richard Weaver’s Ideas Have Consequences, he offers a proof that the universe originated in God’s mind. He quotes St. Athanasius: “For if all things had come into being in this automatic fashion, instead of being the outcome of mind, they would all be uniform and without distinction.” The fact that our physical reality, our DNA, is a complex structure proves that intelligence was involved in the making of those structures. Our physical existence is not the result of a blind “process,” like evolution. Athanasius is right. Without God, the raw substance of the physical universe would be uniform and “without distinction.” But the universe is not a field of uniform substance. It is a series of complex systems, one nested inside the other. Imagine, then, what the disintegrative teaching of Karl Marx represents. It is no accident that the left wants to erase the distinction between male and female. The Marxist, as a practicing materialist, is fighting to destroy form in favor of undifferentiated matter. His mission, therefore, is one of absolute destruction. The proof is found in his attempt to obliterate the difference between male and female, the most fundamental distinction of all.

Here is the key to the left’s game. Here is the template, the pattern, the logic and the relation. This is how you turn a civilization into a killing field. Every formation in the material world is born through pain; but it is always born out of the ideas which give form and structure because the divine mind has primacy over matter. “THE most portentous general event of our time is the steady obliteration of those distinctions which create society,” noted Weaver. “rational society is the mirror of the logos, and this means that it has a formal structure which enables apprehension. The preservation of society is therefore directly linked with the recovery of true knowledge.”

Is “true knowledge” something you think about when you watch Joe Biden on TV? At least with Trump you’re going to get a few outrageous references to reality – which is why he makes the left so furious. You see, the left must always have fantasy in place of reality. It must have lies instead of truth. That is how they break down form and break the back of culture itself. They are fomenting moral idiocy, and they have become what they foment.

Look at our leaders today. Do you trust any of these people? Do these people sound knowledgeable or are they pretenders? Are their ideas confused and disintegrative? If so, what is the basis for their leadership? Why should we tolerate them? The answer is simple. People who don’t know what they are doing will – as the English say – “make a pudding.” Worse yet, if they are really stupid (which some of them are), they will fall prey to foreign intelligence networks and end up betraying the country.

In Richard Weaver’s chapter on “Distinction and Hierarchy” he quotes Shakespeare’s lines:

O, when degree is shak’d,
Which is the ladder to all high designs,
Then enterprise is sick! How could communities,
Degrees in schools and brotherhoods in cities,
Peaceful commerce from dividable shores,
The primogenity and due of birth,
Prerogative of age, crowns, scepters, laurels,
But by degree stand in authentic place?
Take but degree away, untune that string,
And hark what discord follows! Each thing meets
In mere oppugnancy. The bounded water
Should shift their bosoms higher than the shores
And make a sop of all this solid globe;
Strength should be lord of imbecility,
And the rude son should strike his father dead;
Force should be right; or rather, right and wrong
(Between whose endless jar justice resides)
Should lose their names, and so should justice too.
Then everything includes itself in power,
Power into will, will into appetite;
And appetite, an universal wolf,
So doubly seconded with will and power,
Must make perforce an universal prey,
And last eat up himself.

Weaver makes the comment that, “The program of social democracy would take away this ‘ladder to all high designs’” that Shakespeare alluded to. In fact, socialism’s leading thinkers have turned away from all “high designs” as well as high-mindedness. The logic of their “system” signifies an unraveling of the social fabric in favor of a bureaucratic hierarchy productive of universal spoliation. And in that bureaucratic hierarchy our domestic enemy lies nested. “The fight is being waged on all fronts,” noted Weaver, “and the most insidious idea employed to break down society is an undefined equalitarianism.” This equalitarianism, he noted, “is harmful because it always presents itself as a redress of injustice, whereas in truth it is the very opposite.”

Think of AOC, think of Nancy Pelosi when you read Weaver’s next line: “[it is] obvious to any candid observer, that ‘equality’ is found most often in the mouths of those engaged in artful self-promotion.” And self-promotion is exactly what they do, at America’s expense. Stopping these monsters in heels will be the political challenge of 2021. Whatever happens in the coming year, a dark culmination is indicated. If that sounds a little sinister, or disturbing, then set aside your complacency. A time of decision is upon us.
