Christian Worldview Network to Launch
24-Hour-a-Day Radio Streaming
Far from a distress call, May Day this year signals the beginning of widespread good news from Worldview Weekend's stunningly successful Christian Worldview Network. Worldview Weekend President Brannon Howse has announced the spring 2007 launch of streaming radio, to offer audio features of his wide-ranging stable of worldview experts, 24 hours a day. More than 60 regular commentators currently populate the site, writing on Christian worldview topics as varied as politics and creationism, and in its first 21 months, CWN traffic has grown to over 125,000 unique visitors per week-500,000 each month!
Howse notes that internet is fast becoming the medium of choice for many Americans. Millions now view streaming TV programs online and on demand. Just this week, a major radio host predicted for his audience that in the not-to-distant future more would be listening to his show via internet streaming in the car than on a traditional radio. The Discovery Channel, too, recently aired a program revealing an aggressive plan from auto makers to put internet in new cars.
A long-time student of broadcast technology, Brannon Howse launched Christian Worldview Network in June of 2005. "Now," says Howse, "we project to have more than 200,000 unique visitors per week in the next few months based on our current growth rates." In addition, CWN has nearly 75,000 people on its e-mail alert list, and that number grows each day.
Howse's enthusiasm for his online ventures is well deserved. Christian Worldview Network.com and Worldview Weekend.com have been rated in the top 100,000 of the world's websites by various traffic counting services.
"Because we work closely with other worldview and pro-family organizations," notes WW's president, "we e-mail to our list about their events, and they e-mail to their list about our conferences and website. These exchanges enable us to e-mail to a combined roster of some 3 million conservative Christians, and we'll use these contacts to promote our new CWN service."
Brannon unveiled his Christian Worldview Network with a three phase plan. Phase one published cutting edge, Christian worldview articles online, augmented with the popular feature of a feedback button through which readers post their own thoughts on each article. Phase two added streaming radio of Brannon Howse's weekly radio program in June 2006, and phase three offered 2-3 minute streaming video features beginning at the first of this year. Although both audio and visual offerings are limited in scope at this point, CWN's audience is accustomed to the streaming services, and expansion of phases two and three is expected to have dramatically positive results. One indicator of the future potential is that, in just four days recently, more than 6,000 people viewed one of Brannon's video commentaries.
CWN is in the process of building a television studio set that will include a news desk, flat screen TVs, and professional lighting. The network has assembled a group of experienced radio and TV reporters throughout the nation. Reports and commentaries will be featured on a 30 minute weekly broadcast called Christian Worldview Network's News in Review. Viewers will have the option to watch on-demand as well as to offer feedback on each news story.
Supporting the internet-based service, Worldview Weekend also produces Worldview Weekend Digest, a 36-page, full-color magazine published twice a year. Distributed to a controlled list of 400,000, the June - November issue will feature details about new offerings on the Christian Worldview Network's 24 hour streaming radio. Programming is expected to include Bible teaching and Christian talk programs that focus on Biblical worldview issues. The May 1 introduction will feature 12 hours of weekday programming repeated each night. Weekends will present a best-of-program run from the previous week, with different shows offered on Saturday and Sunday. CWN is currently selling air time for those who wish to broadcast their programs. For more information, contact Info@worldviewweekend.com.
