We’ve already seen that New Apostolic Reformation and Word of Faith folks think they can become little gods running around on earth, but the Church of Rome, in its own way, teaches that, too. It’s the original lie of Satan presented to Eve in Genesis 3. As in all false religions, people are promised to become gods. According to the Catholic Catechism, number 460, here’s how Rome teaches this belief:
[quote] The word became flesh to make us “partakers of the divine nature.” For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God. “For the Son of God became man so that we might become God.” The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods. [end quote]
Like Word of Faith and NAR teaching, the Church of Rome wants us to become gods ourselves.
