On today’s NoCo – Pastor Mike continues in part 2 of a message he preached from 1 Corinthians 12.  This section deals with spiritual gifts, and Mike tells us a number of objective facts about these gifts:from last time:1) even though there is a lot of confusion about spiritual gifts, you can know what the Bible says2) the Holy Spirit gives gifts to the church to highlight Jesus3) you should marvel at God’s creativity and the gifts He gives to the church4) Serve others with your gift5) spiritual gifts are sovereignly givenMike also gives us a list of questions to ask our charismatic friends and family when the topic of spiritual gifts comes up with them:1. won’t you admit to some cessationism?o Is the canon closed? Yes – so the writing of scripture has ceasedo Are there apostles today? No2. why does the church appoint deacons and elders and not apostles?3. are the sign gifts that happen today really the same things that happened in NT?o No – so you are a cessationist4. since we have the completed canon, what is the purpose of sign gifts?5. since the Bible is the final authority why do you point to your experience to validate the gifts?6. what does it say about sign gifts if for 1800 yrs God did not soverignty see fit to use them ?o Who was? Cultists, Mormons, heretics, etc
