Crosstalk: September 9, 2015

Jim opened this edition of Crosstalk with news that Kim Davis, the Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk who was jailed for choosing not to issue same-sex marriage licenses, has been released from jail. The judge in the case has indicated that he is satisfied that since last week, the clerk's office is issuing licenses to all legally eligible couples. Preparation is underway in 3 major cities for the Pope's visit to the United States. Screens will be set up on the Capitol lawn so that people can hear what the Pope has to say and some congressmen will be streaming the Pope's message through their websites. Other than the fact that Pope Francis will be addressing the United Nations as well as being the first Pope ever to address the U.S. Congress, should we be concerned that the Catholic faith, and the Pope in particular, generate so much attention?
