In 2002 Rich, along with his brother Dave, formed Five & Two Pictures. Rich is the writer, director and producer of such films as 'The Appointment', 'Time Changer', 'Unidentified', 'The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry' and 'A Matter of Faith'. He's also been involved in numerous other Christian films and projects.
What drew Rich to film? He came up with a script idea at age 18 and two years later he took that script, along with his brother, to Hollywood. They did receive a contract from one interested party but never signed it due to control reasons. Another offer provided twice the money of the first offer so Rich and Dave signed an option deal. That individual reneged on their first option payment so Rich and Dave took the script back and moved on.
Later in 1979, Dave became a Christian. He, in turn, inspired Rich to do the same with Rich committing his life to Christ in May of 1980. While living in Arkansas, the Lord inspired them to make movies that God could use to edify the church and to reach people with the Gospel. It's at this time that they formed their philosophy for movie making. It includes:
1—Please the Lord. (John 15:5)
2—Make movies that will motivate, encourage and challenge believers.
3—Put the Gospel in their films.
Jim provided audio clips from 4 of Rich's movies while Rich provided descriptive background information. This information proves why these movies aren't simply 'crossover' films that come off as 'faith-based', 'family friendly' or 'wholesome'. They are true, Bible-based, Christian witnessing tools that can be used to reach your friends and family members for Christ.
