According to a Fox News report, the Democrats in the U.S. Senate are discussing an abortion bill “that would override the laws banning late-term abortions and imposing regulations on abortion clinics in an increasing number of states.” This bill “already has the support of nearly two-thirds of Senate Democrats.”Now, the fact is that abortion is murdering a child—a person made in the image of God—in the womb (Genesis 1:26–27). Some babies have actually survived late-term abortions!This evil, sickening bill is another sign of a culture that is shifting away from a biblical foundation and replacing it with a secularized, anti-God foundation. Bottom line for me: abortion is wrong because God’s Word is true and because of my commitment as a born-again Christian to the authority of the Word of God. I think of these verses:

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. (Psalm 139:13–16)

Unless the church as a whole stops compromising God’s Word from the beginning in Genesis, teaches that His Word is our authority in every area (including the sanctity of life), gives answers as to why we can trust the Bible, and preaches the gospel with authority, this nation will continue its demise. I urge you to pray with me for this nation, the U.S. government, the church, and Christian leaders, that they would recognize the authority of God’s Word in all things and submit to Him.In reality, abortion is no different than the pagan rituals of the Canaanites (and others in the Old Testament) who sacrificed their children to pagan gods.  Remember, the temptation in the Garden (Genesis 3) was that humans can become ”like God”—in other words, the devil tempted Adam and Eve to be their own god.  Increasingly in our culture we see people deciding to be their own god—and killing children in the womb is sacrificing a life to their own sinful god desires!

You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord. (Leviticus 18:21, ESV)You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. (Deuteronomy 12:31)And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your whorings so small a matter that you slaughtered my children and delivered them up as an offering by fire to them? (Ezekiel 16:20–21, ESV)
