Introduction

In a recent interview between TV host Brannon Howse and former FBI agent turned whistleblower, Kyle Seraphin, a shocking revelation was made about the state of surveillance and law enforcement in the United States. Their discussion delved into the expanding powers of intelligence agencies, particularly the FBI, and the concerning misuse of tools like FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act). Seraphin's insights shed light on what he believes to be an alarming transformation towards a more invasive and authoritarian system, one that could be labeled as a "police state.”

The FBI's Dual Role

The heart of the matter lies in the dual role of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Historically, the FBI has been responsible for both gathering intelligence and enforcing the law. This unique combination of roles has raised concerns, as it grants the agency considerable power. Seraphin and Howse argue that the FBI's intelligence capabilities, coupled with its law enforcement authority, essentially meet the criteria for a "secret police" agency.

FISA 702: A Tool for Foreign Intelligence

One focal point of their discussion was FISA Section 702, a provision initially designed to combat foreign intelligence threats. This section of the law was intended to target foreign actors engaging in espionage against the United States. However, Seraphin voiced his concerns about how the FBI has allegedly expanded the use of this tool beyond its intended purpose.

He claimed that FISA 702 was being employed to target drug traffickers at the border, specifically those involved in moving fentanyl into the United States. This application of FISA 702, intended for foreign intelligence matters, is seen as a significant abuse of power. It blurs the line between intelligence gathering and law enforcement activities.

One of the key issues raised by Seraphin is the lack of oversight when it comes to FISA 702. He argues that this tool provides minimal safeguards and accountability, making it ripe for potential abuse. As someone with experience in handling this type of data, he expressed his concerns about the ease with which FISA requests can be obtained, with limited scrutiny and oversight.

Furthermore, he emphasized that FISA 702 should not be used to target individuals on American soil, a practice he referred to as "reverse targeting." Such usage would be expressly illegal under the statute that authorizes FISA 702. Yet, Seraphin suggests that some within the FBI are advocating for its expanded use, even for domestic purposes.

We Are Living in a Police State

Seraphin's dire assessment of the situation is that the United States has now become a "police state." He contends that the actions of certain federal agencies, such as the FBI, are increasingly resembling those of authoritarian regimes. This shift, characterized by mass surveillance, coercion, and censorship, raises serious concerns about the erosion of civil liberties and constitutional values.

1985 America Would Invade 2023 America

One of the most shocking revelations by this former FBI agent was that he believes that 1985 America would Invade 2023 America to free the American people from the tyranny and oppression they are now experiencing.

Kyle Seraphin:  The United States that I grew up in. I was born in 1981, and the US that I grew up in would invade the United States that I live in and that you live in right now. And we saw that in operation and.

Brannon Howse: They would say that you're violating human rights and abusing your people and we're going to stop it?

Kyle Seraphin: That’s exactly correct. They would first start with sanctions. First they would cripple us with sanctions. We don't need to do that since we've inflated our currency to the point where, you know, everything costs 40% more than it did two years ago. But after after they sanctioned us into oblivion and we were driving cars from 13 years ago, we'd be driving like old Nissans and stuff and all of our things would have no parts. We'd be looking like Cuba in the 1970s. Then they would have invaded us. So 1985, United States would invade us and they would have done a top gun over the top of us, and we would have been, you know, asking for it. I feel like that's true. It's really sad. It's the worst thing I can imagine because I've got little kids. I've got a three week old right now.

Conclusion

The interview between Brannon Howse and Kyle Seraphin sheds light on the evolving landscape of surveillance and law enforcement in the United States. Their discussion raises crucial questions about the balance between national security and individual privacy, as well as the potential misuse of powerful tools like FISA 702. The concerns expressed by Seraphin underscore the need for robust oversight and accountability in order to protect the fundamental principles upon which the nation was founded.
