Have you ever shied away from studying Bible prophecy because you thought it was too controversial? Too many conflicting views? Just too hard to understand? One of the things we appreciate about the guest for this broadcast is that he’s able to take difficult concepts and make them easier to understand. He’s done that through many books dealing with the topic of apologetics and he’s also done it in the area of Bible prophecy, such as we see in his recently released, Basic Bible Prophecy: Essential Facts Every Christian Should Know. He explores the who, what, when, where and why of Bible prophecy.
The guest we’re referring to is Dr. Ron Rhodes. Dr. Rhodes is president of Reasoning from the Scriptures Ministries. He’s a researcher, author and apologist, having written over 60 books including titles such as: End Times Super Trends, 40 Days Through Revelation, Unmasking the Antichrist, Israel on High Alert, Spiritual Warfare in the End Times, New Babylon Rising, The End Times in Chronological Order and numerous others.
Dr. Rhodes explained very interesting aspects related to Bible prophecy you may never have heard of before. For example, he noted that it proves that the God of the Bible is the true God, it promotes evangelism, comforts us in our grief, strengthens us when facing adversity, proves that God will triumph over evil, and can also bring special blessings to people.
You may wonder how that can be true when numerous alleged prophecy experts have been wrong on their prophecies. Dr. Rhodes admitted such false prophecies are an embarrassment. To the point, he noted that the track record of such individuals is 100% wrong. In other words, you shouldn’t set dates nor should you listen to those who do.
When people follow others who set dates, you can have individuals who stop saving for the future/retirement, students of college age might decide not to attend school, while others might spend all of their savings on a special shelter/armaments. All of this can happen because of someone who set a date for the rapture or the return of Christ. Still others may lose their faith completely, thinking God let them down, when the prophesied event doesn’t take place!
This book is strategically designed to help the reader see the big picture of Bible prophecy and retain what has been read by containing just enough detail to make the subject understandable.
