With the inauguration of President Joe Biden, a very leftist agenda was put into place. This has had ramifications concerning immigration and particularly what’s taking place at our nation’s southern border.
Joining Jim to examine this issue, and what’s at stake for the future, was Mark Krikorian. Mark is a nationally recognized expert on immigration issues serving as the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies. They are an independent, non-partisan research organization examining and critiquing the impact of immigration on the United States. He’s testified numerous times before Congress and has published articles in many outlets.
Mark recently wrote a column about proposed legislation from the Biden administration that was formally introduced in the House and Senate last week. It would legalize virtually all illegal aliens, increase legal immigration, and weaken immigration enforcement.
What could the agenda possibly be behind such legislation? Mark indicated it began with a press call with legacy media reporters. He described how a New York Times reporter asked one of the congressional staff members what this would do to legal immigration. In other words, what would the numbers be. The answer of the people who supposedly sponsored this bill was that they didn’t know.
Mark believes they never figured out what the increase would be because they see the legal immigration issue as ‘…a way of giving things out to different special interest groups. So what it adds up to just doesn’t interest them.’ One interest group concerned about one issue gets its visas and another group concerned about something else gets their visas.
What this legislation basically does is give the Biden administration great leeway concerning who gets to stay and who doesn’t. Behind this is the principle of many on the left who don’t believe you should be made to leave the country if you don’t want to.
