Brannon Howse: Aired October 30, 2013
Topic: The Charlotte, North Carolina NBC I-Team investigates mega-church pastor Steven Furtick and reports that there are no elected deacons or elders overseeing the church. Instead the news station reports that a so called board of overseers is made up of other mega church pastors such as Perry Noble. Brannon has been reporting for a few years on his radio program and in his book Religious Trojan Horse that this new brand of CEO Pastor that sees church attendees as customers is the popular model thanks to people like Rick Warren and Peter Drucker. Now it seems the secular media is picking up on what many discerning Christians have known for many years. Many of these mega church pastors do not meet the Biblical standard of a shepherd and their organizations do not meet the Biblical requirements of a New Testament church and Brannon explains why. Topic: Moody Bible Institute has on their website the 2014 speakers for Moody Founders week and the speakers include individuals known for ecumenicalism, and social justice among other troubling beliefs. One of the speakers will include Leith Anderson that signed the Yale document that Christians and Muslims worship the same God as well as signing a climate change document backed by extreme radicals. Leith Anderson also worked alongside Jim Wallis for amnesty for illegals and the circle of protection protect that called for continued redistribution of wealth through liberal social programs. Topic: Chicago Tribune reports that Moody Bible Institute will now allow Moody employees to drink, smoke, gamble, and play a hand of poker on their own time. For years Moody Bible Institute was known as a theological and socially conservative institute that trained Christian leaders and pastors for leadership. Why are leaders called to a higher standard and what can result when Christian leaders are publically seen participating in certain practices? What message does this new standard among Moody Institute employees send to the young pastors they are training? Topic: We take your calls.
