The Jewish people have blessed the entire world! In fact, God’s covenant with Abraham concludes with the promise of Genesis 12:3 that “in (Abraham) all families of the earth (would) be blessed.” Dr. John Whitcomb explains that promise here on “Encounter God’s Truth,” and thus shows again how God’s Word is true from the beginning to the end. The people of Israel have played a unique role in God’s plan for history and, as Dr. Whitcomb states, are “distinctive in privileges” they have enjoyed. God has used Israel to bring salvation to the world. In fact, until the day of Pentecost, no one could be saved without identifying with the Jewish people. Sadly, however, in Acts 3—when the church was still 100 percent Jewish—the nation rejected a re-offer of the kingdom that was given by the Apostles Peter and John. Host Wayne Shepherd introduces those thought-provoking themes, preparing us to consider “The First Persecution” on this week’s edition of “Encounter God’s Truth.” This program comes from Volume One of a series called “Acts: Witness of the Early Church.” It was recorded live at the Middletown Bible Church in Middletown, Connecticut. Whitcomb Ministries thanks them for their participation in this broadcast outreach.
